associate publisher’s note
Much of the ED staff and “extended” EXPO staff
A note of thank you
… from all of us
t’s become a tradition at ED Publications. Right around
the first or second week in July, we start the inevitable
“countdown.” On a large white board in the office,
written in an erasable red marker it reads, “45 working
days until EXPO.” Each weekday the count, of course, goes
down, letting us all know that nothing can stop the passage of
time…
and EXPO will soon be upon us all.
But as quickly as our Annual Gentlemen’s Club Owners
EXPO seems to arrive, our week in Las Vegas goes by in a
blur. As busy as we all are, there is barely any opportunity to
sit back, relax and enjoy the event that we work so hard all
year to prepare for. Sadly, there is even less time to thank all
of those people who help to make the EXPO a consistently
successful event, and there are quite a few. However, as they
say, better late than never.
First, we do have to thank our EXPO ’09 Title Sponsors,
including Deja Vu (sponsor for the ninth straight time) and
newcomer Diamond Vodka, who made a big splash in the
EXPO Tradeshow. There were also a number of EXPO event
sponsors, all of which are mentioned in the EXPO “Post-
Game Wrap Up” section of this magazine (for the particular
events they sponsored).
We have to thank all of our EXPO ’09 Tradeshow ex-
hibitors, who invested their time and money to come to Las
Vegas to exhibit their products and services for the EXPO
attendees. Among these exhibitors, we’d like to especially
thank Dave Sullivan and Sound Investment for sponsoring the
sound for all of our EXPO ’09 workshops and panel sessions.
We also have to thank all of our EXPO panelists, many
of whom flew from across the country to offer their particular
area of expertise to our EXPO attendees. A special note of
thanks goes to attorney Brad Shafer, who has been our chief
consultant for our popular legal panel sessions for the past
several years.
We must also thank our extended EXPO staff, who make
our jobs much, much easier. This includes (in no particular
order) our security staff of Ken Parks, Mike Parks, Juice and
Jerome Williams; Jake Record, for lending a helping hand
(and twisted sense of humor) at EXPO Registration and at
the ED website booth; Devon Lee and Marcus, who helped
out tremendously at our Tradeshow booth; Lucy L’Vette, for
running the Award Show ticket booth (while being six months
pregnant!); Lexi Lamour and Eric, for once again kicking ass
at EXPO registration, running our evening parties and gener-
ally being there for us whenever and wherever we needed
them; John Alleyn and his longtime assistant Kloey Love for
putting in many, many hours of hard work on the ED’s Awards
Show production; Carrigan, for her high-energy assistance at
EXPO Registration and at the Awards Show; Taryn Thomas
and Heidi Mayne, for helping out a the ED Tradeshow booth;
Rio Rivers, for putting together and producing the Miss Exotic
United States Pageant Semi-Finals and Finals during EXPO;
and photographer Charles Brasher, for manning the back-
stage area at the Awards Show for all of the “winners” photos
And as our Associate Publisher, I certainly would be
remiss (and in a massive heap of trouble) if I did not mention
our hardworking ED staff, including Gary Daugherty, Peggy
Daugherty, Teresa Tearno, Kevin Pennington, Kristofer Kay,
Jenn Pisco, Lacy Empkey, Kylie Matthews and staff photogra-
pher Tim Hubbard
Am I leaving someone out … oh yeah, we have to thank
our Publisher Don Waitt. We cannot possibly ignore the hours
of preparation he has put in each year for the past 17 years in
order to make sure that the Gentlemen’s Club Owners EXPO
is a consistently successful event.
Last but most certainly not least-we at ED Publications
need to thank all of those club owners, club operators and
club staff-including GMs, House Moms, DJs, Bartenders and
more-along with other adult nightclub industry profession-
als, who took time out of their busy schedules, bought a plane
ticket, got a hotel room and graced us with their presence at
the 17th Annual Gentlemen’s Club Owners EXPO. While we
spend a great deal of time and effort making the EXPO the
best, most informative and entertaining event it can possibly
be each and every year, the event would not exist without you.
